So, I'm not sure what to do now. I figure I want to keep posting stuff on Tuesday, but I'm not sure what. The only short stories I have left aren't fantasy, and they are a bit more political than I'd like to be online. Or to other people in real life. Anyway, no new short stories, so what can I do?
Well, I can post book reviews I've written, which contain both a gauging of enjoyment and mature content. I would have to warn you though that I usually don't read any books more than once, and while my memory is fairly good, I might not remember everything about these books. I'll just give the lasting impression that it left on me, which is the best I can do when this is neither my job or my passion. Still, it can be used to navigate what fantasy books to read and to avoid according to my personal tastes, which shouldn't be the end of your opinion, but I feel like if I'd had a source of reviews like this, I wouldn't have read some of these books. Plus, you might discover a new book to read with this.
The next idea is to post essays on fantasy literature, what it is, and common missteps in the genre. These could end up controversial because, well, I'm trying to promote an idea that is not commonly taken up by most media I've seen. I back up my opinions with well-reasoned arguments, but I know that such things don't guarantee respectful discourse. Of the two listed ideas, this one could end up more sociopolitically charged, though some book reviews could dip into it as well if the subject was brought up in the book itself.
The last idea is posting general writing advice. I've been writing for five years now, and I've grown a lot in that time. I don't have a lot of advice to give though, and I think my most valuable contribution would be how to write a certain type of character that a lot of media gets offensively wrong. It's not as charged as most subjects, I don't think, but I still think it's a topic worth broaching eventually.
Those are my ideas for what kind of content I should post. I doubt very many are reading this anyway, so it's unlikely I'll get any response at all. Still, I'd rather have a direction to go than none at all.
